Prof. Wen

Prof. Hung-Pin (Charles) Wen is a Distinguished Professor (2020–present) in the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, where he also served as Dean of Student Affairs (2023–2025). He received his Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, USA, in 2007, specializing in VLSI verification and test. His academic and administrative leadership is complemented by significant roles in national policy and international editorial service, including Consultant to the Asia Silicon Valley Development Plan under Taiwan’s National Development Council (since 2019) and Editor for ICT Express (AI and its Applications track, since 2025). He also contributes to high-level committees such as the National Development Fund’s Investment Evaluation Committee (since 2022) and the Review Committee for Smart City and IoT Innovations under the National Development Council (since 2023).

Prof. Wen’s research integrates computational intelligence with hardware and network systems, yielding impactful contributions across radiation-hardened electronic design, functional timing analysis, and high-speed programmable networking. His work consistently bridges theoretical innovation and industrial application, particularly in system-on-chip validation and in-network intelligence using programmable switches. This interdisciplinary approach has led to sustained scholarly output, including over 100 peer-reviewed publications and several recognized advancements in autonomous transportation systems and reliable computing.

His research excellence has been recognized through numerous prestigious awards, including Best Paper Awards at ASP-DAC (2012), SASIMI (2014), and ICOIN (2016, 2017). He was also honored as a Distinguished Young Scholar by the Taiwan IC Design Society (2015) and received the Excellent Junior Research Investigators Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology (2015). Most recently, he was awarded the Academia–Industry Collaboration Outstanding Contribution Award by MediaTek Advanced Research Center (2025), underscoring his significant role in advancing industry-academia partnerships and technological innovation.
